For more than 45 years, founder Mark Sturdefant has surfed the breaks of Southern California, watching surf culture evolve from hand-shaped classics to today’s highly refined performance boards. While board shapes and materials have continued to advance, one thing has largely stayed the same — most surfboards still leave the manufacturer with limited designs.
Surfboard manufacturing focuses on performance, durability, and efficiency. Intricate artwork and custom graphics are difficult to mass produce, and expensive to customize. For many surfers, expressing personal style on their board has always meant compromising between quality, durability, and affordability.
That challenge inspired Mark to begin years of research and development focused on creating a better solution.
